Way back when, Edinburgh’s Hotel du Vin used to be the city’s asylum.

These days, people have much happier reasons for paying a visit.

Running Sunday to Thursday, the Deal is for eight people to enjoy a three course meal in the Chef’s Table private dining room at Hotel du Vin, Edinburgh.

The menu on offer will depend on what’s in season but Head Chef Gavin Lindsay specialises in putting a modern twist on French home-style cooking.

For example, the dishes on offer might include the salade frisée aux lardons; the roast cod on Puy lentils or the Toulouse sausage and mash.

Additional guests

Additional diners may be added at £36.50 per head, payable directly to the hotel. The Chef’s Table can accommodate groups of up to eight. Larger parties will be seated in The Burke & Hare dining room or The Bedlam dining room.

Wine tasting

As the name suggests, wine is at the heart of Hotel du Vin and the wine list makes intriguing reading for wine lovers.

This Big Deal writer has eaten in the private dining rooms at Edinburgh’s Hotel du Vin on a few occasions and I’ve also been at a tasting in the Laroche room.

Each evening has been great fun but the meal in the Chef’s Table, overlooking the kitchen, had a real wow factor.
