It is sometimes said that afternoon tea is really just a picnic indoors.
Think about it – instead of a picnic rug, you get a tablecloth. Instead of a flask, you get a teapot. And instead of grass and trees, you get… hopefully a Victorian library with a fireplace and floor-to ceiling books?
‘Sounds amazing, but where can I find such a place?’ we hear you ask.
Luckily, we’ve found it for you with this Big Deal on Prosecco afternoon tea for two in the atmospheric Library Room of B+B Edinburgh.
Prosecco afternoon tea
Originally an elegant family home and now a listed building, B+B Edinburgh is no ordinary bed & breakfast establishment. Instead, it is a super stylish boutique getaway in the West End with original Victorian features such as a carved wooden staircase.
Your Prosecco afternoon tea for two will be served in B+B Edinburgh’s impressive Library Room, which has a suitably Downton Abbey-esque vibe. Or, if you prefer, you can enjoy it in the elegant bar area instead (don’t say you’re not spoiled for choice).
This Big Deal is available every day from 1pm to 5pm until 31st July. If you would like to make it a family outing, you can add on two children as well for a £10 supplement each.
That looks delicious
Afternoon tea is prepared freshly each day at B+B Edinburgh and, with its various stylish touches, is a treat for the eye as well as the stomach.
Your spread will include finely cut sandwiches, fresh scones, homemade cakes, cupcakes, and a selection of teas and coffees. Children can enjoy a fruit juice or hot chocolate with marshmallows instead of tea or coffee.
And let’s not forget that all-important glass of ice-cold Prosecco each, of course. Bottom’s up…
Explore the capital
If you are visiting from out of town, then B+B Edinburgh is perfectly placed for exploring the city. That’s because it’s based centrally on Rothesay Terrace, just a ten-minute walk from Haymarket station and fifteen minutes from Princes Street.
You will also be within walking distance of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, the Georgian House and the Edinburgh Gin Distillery, as well as the Water of Leith and peaceful Dean Village.
With almost 1000 reviews under its belt, B+B Edinburgh has bagged itself a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for consistently good guest feedback.
This reviewer loved their afternoon tea experience (we have edited their comment for shortness):
‘I’ve visited Scotland at least a dozen and a half times, and when we checked into the B+B Edinburgh a few weeks ago, my husband told me that this was the best venue ever! And I certainly must agree. This hotel is in an old Georgian townhouse that still maintains the carved wooden staircase and very high ceilings. Like stepping back in time a couple of hundred years… The hotel has a huge library where one can choose to relax, and there is an option to order afternoon tea… So, we were able to enjoy real luxury in the comfort of a private library. The tea was prepared and laid out for us, and we were left alone to enjoy it. It doesn’t get much better than that!’
Travel back in time (with scones)
It’s not often that you get to enjoy afternoon tea in genuine Victorian splendour, surrounded by a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling books.
So if you’d like to play lord or lady of the manor, then snap up this Big Deal on a giddily fizzy afternoon tea for two at B+B Edinburgh in the West End.
