Ten minutes from Princes Street, No 11 Brunswick Street is a gorgeous Georgian townhouse – a very elegant spot for a delicious afternoon tea and a natter.
It is also just five minutes from Edinburgh Playhouse – handy if you fancy a pre-show bite.
Afternoon tea is served from 12.30pm, Wednesday to Sunday, in your choice of the art-lined Brasserie or the cosy guest lounge. The last reservation time is 3.30pm.

The food is splendid. All of the baking items are handmade at the hotel as are the finger sandwiches.
Sweet afternoon tea
Here’s the sweet afternoon tea menu:
Sandwich selection includes mini croissants filled with smoked salmon, dill and soft cheese or egg salad with chive and cracked black pepper. There will also be your choice of brown or white bread filled with Broon Coo brie and cranberry; sliced pastrami with horseradish cream or honey roast ham with Dijon mustard.
Fresh fruit or plain scones with flavours ranging from cranberry and orange or dark chocolate and cherry to apricot and ginger. Served with Isabella’s Preserves strawberry and Champagne Jam plus clotted cream.
Created each day by the pastry chefs, the sweet selection may include cinnamon carrot cake with cream cheese icing; chocolate éclairs filled with vanilla whipped cream; lemon drizzle cake; summer berry Victoria sponge cake or mini cupcakes in a variety of flavours.
Guests will be offered an extensive selection of leaf teas served in antique china or a variety of coffees.
Savoury afternoon tea
Cock-a-leekie soup: a cup of traditional Scottish cock-a-leekie.
Granite City Cheddar Cheese scone served with smoked sea salt butter. The scones are made fresh on the premises each day.
Smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich; warm Cullen skink bridie (traditional Scottish pastry made with Aberdeen smoked haddock) and haggis bon bons with a sweet chilli dip.
Espresso cup of cranachan jelly with brandy snap tuile.
Guests will be offered a selection of bagged teas and a wide variety of coffees.
