There are over 300 different pasta forms with some 1300 different names.
Today’s Big Deal on a pasta dinner at Al Dente comes in two variations and it has just one name: delizioso.
Al Dente is a cosy, family-run restaurant on Easter Road.
Since 2008, it has been staffed by an enthusiastic team who are eager to share the delights of Italian cooking not just with their Easter Road neighbours but also with the many diners who visit regularly from other parts of the city and beyond.
Sticklers for using fresh ingredients, Al Dente prides itself on authenticity. If you want to taste real Italian cooking in Edinburgh then this is where you will find it.
With vouchers valid until the end of February, this offer would make a great stocking filler. Option two is for four people – perfect for a fun meal out with friends or family.
Pasta for two
This is a very straightforward deal. Option one is for two people to each enjoy a pasta main course from the new a la carte pasta selection at Al Dente.
A glass of Nero D’Avola or Inzolia for each diner is included in the offer.
Option two is four people to each have a pasta main course and glass of wine.
The offer is available for lunch or dinner Monday to Friday and for lunch on Saturdays.
Al Dente’s newly revealed selection of pasta dishes includes old favourites such as the house lasagne as well as regional specialities like the pappardelle al ragu’ di cervo – ribbon pasta with a venison ragu in a cocoa sauce, a speciality dish from Lombardy.
Also popular is the seafood spaghetti which is studded with clams, mussels, king prawns and squid. Vegetarian options include the pumpkin ravioli served in a walnut sauce.
There is a £3 supplement on all seafood dishes.
Very well reviewed on TripAdvisor, Al Dente has an enthusiastic customer base that keeps coming back. This is what one regular thought of a recent meal:
‘Such a lovely evening. This lovely little restaurant never fails. It’s very intimate and you always feel you have the waiters’ full attention. Great food and great atmosphere… Thanks and we’ll be back soon :)’
