A stylish cocktail bar and kitchen on West Crosscauseway, 56 North recently took delivery of Bertha.

Cooking at more than 400 degrees C, she gives meat a wonderful charred, caramelised flavour.

Cool bar

Handy for Edinburgh Uni and the Queen’s Hall, 56 North is a cool bar and kitchen which is also well placed for a pre-theatre bite before shows at the Festival Theatre.

It has huge floor to ceiling windows and cosy booths – as perfect for people-watching as they are for romantic rendezvous.

Aged Scottish beef

Available seven days a week, today’s Big Deal is for two people to each have a steak sandwich and a Bellini or bottle of Innis & Gunn toasted oak beer.

The beef at 56 North is sourced direct from the farm and flavour aged for 28 or 36 days. It is cooked to your spec, sliced and served in a baked rustic loaf with rocket leaves, caramelised onion, your choice of sauce and a side of fries.

Wash it down with an Innis & Gunn or choose one of the following Sparkling Bellinis: Mimosa, made with orange and butters; Apple Tree, made with elderflower and apple; PomPom, made with cranberry and pomegranate.
