Apparently, the average office worker is so scared of losing their job that they take less than 24 seconds to eat lunch al desko.*
And that’s holding their sarnie in one hand while typing with the other.
And praying that their line manager doesn’t spot them.
Well, it’s time to draw a line in the breadcrumbs on your desk.
Throw off the shackles of boss class oppression and enjoy a proper lunch with today’s Big Deal on tapas for two and a soft drink at the sleek Harry’s Bar in Edinburgh’s West End.
Harry’s is back
Old hands may dimly remember big nights on the dance floor at Harry’s in the Eighties and Nineties.
A lot has changed since then. Although big nights on the dance floor still feature regularly.
After a stylish revamp, Harry’s re-opened last year as a chic, candle-lit basement bar specialising in top notch tapas and great drinks.
It’s also a not for profit social enterprise so you scoffing lunch will help other people.
Introduce yourself to Harry’s with today’s Big Deal.
Tuck into tapas
Available noon to 5pm, Sunday to Thursday, today’s offer is for two people to share four tapas and have a soft drink each.
From tempura fish bites to Harry’s meatballs in a marinara sauce, there is a wide choice of tapas available.
We like the mini-Angus burgers with smoked ketchup and have a soft spot for the honey and mustard-glazed sausages.
Veggie choices include the aubergine rolls with goat’s curd and basil or the baked Camembert with a cranberry dip.
Seafood choices run from mussels cooked with chorizo and cider in the kitchen’s Josper oven to chilli and garlic prawns.
And, of course, there are always the positively sinful truffle and Parmesan fries.
Harry’s knows how to make their customers happy. These are excerpts from recent reviews on their TripAdvisor and Facebook pages:
‘This is very good value and very good food. If you are looking for tapas I suggest you try here. We had prawns, mussels, haggis spring rolls and camembert. All were delicious… The wine was nice as well and also reasonably priced especially as you are in the heart of west end of Edinburgh. Great for meal or if you just need a snack.’
‘Great tapas lunch… Good range of choices, plenty of food on each plate… Staff were lovely and friendly and it’s a not-for-profit social enterprise so making a difference in young people’s lives as well as serving great food and drink. Go and enjoy knowing that your good time is also doing good in the community!’
‘The place looks fantastic, new decor and seating is lovely… Staff really friendly and lovely cocktails!’
Do lunch with your office spouse
This Big Deal would be ideal for a catch-up with a friend or you could escape the desk with your office spouse and treat them to lunch.

* Oh alright, we made that up. But still, a meal deal in the office? Again?
