In a city named by Lonely Planet as one of the best destinations in Europe?
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience Hotel Indigo, a place the critics are falling over themselves to rave about.
Located in the heart of Dundee, the home of jute, jam, journalism and the iconic new V&A.
Adored by critics
This Big Deal is for an overnight stay in Hotel Indigo Dundee with dinner of chateaubriand, a full breakfast and late checkout.
Hotel Indigo in Dundee was named the best hotel in Scotland by The Sunday Times, beating Gleneagles, the Old Course and other household names.
The Telegraph also gave it an overall score of 9/10, saying ‘Positive proof that chain hotels don’t have to be boring. There’s wit, there’s style, there’s comfort – and there’s a bare bricks bar/restaurant that’s straight out of Shoreditch.’
The Scotsman added to the plaudits, saying ‘an old jute mill, nearly 200 years old, has been given a remarkable makeover to become a boutique hotel which warmly embraces its previous life. It is a symbol of the city’s rich heritage, yet it also epitomises its new-found self confidence.’
There are references to Dundee’s history throughout the hotel, from the Dundee Marmalade motif on bathroom tiles to the Beano comics welcoming you in the bedroom. Scenes from legendary video games Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto, both created in Dundee, are displayed in the lobby.
The bedrooms have antique furnishings and bespoke fabrics, which reference the city’s historic linen trade, white tiled bathrooms, fast WiFi, fresh milk in the fridge and a Nespresso machine.
The hotel’s Daisy Tasker restaurant, named in tribute to a former mill worker who began working there aged 14 and organised the staff social gatherings, has become one of Dundee’s hippest hotspots, with a chic industrial style space serving bistro style dishes and locally inspired cocktails.
This deal includes a 17oz dry aged chateaubriand, served with hand cut chips, tarragon mushroom, cherry tomatoes and red wine & pepper sauce.
There’s no doubt as to what is currently the most talked about hotspot in Scotland – it’s Dundee.
Since the V&A opened in autumn last year the city has garnered a firm place on the world’s cultural map, with the Wall Street Journal placing it on its list of coolest cities in the world and the Lonely Planet naming it one of its top destinations in Europe, describing the city as thriving and creative with a “head-turning” urban redevelopment.
Of course, locals have always known it as the city of jute, jam and journalism, with its fascinating industrial history, cosy pubs and striking waterfront setting. It’s one of Scotland’s most underrated gems.
It’s not just the critics who love Hotel Indigo – the guests do too. The hotel currently has an average rating of 4.5/5 from 146 reviews on TripAdvisor.
Here’s what some recent reviews (edited for length) had to say:
‘Superb hotel with well trained, friendly staff, spacious bedrooms and ensuites with everything catered for. Lovely dinner and excellent breakfast in Daisy Tasker. Particularly loved all the local touches everywhere such as themed rooms (Dundee cake and Grand Theft Auto!) and Dundee marmalade. Will definitely go back.’
‘I have booked the hotel to celebrate my best friend’s birthday and I must say – I cannot wait to come back! After the check in we went to the Daisy tasker – I have heard many great things from my friends about dining experience – and I was not disappointed. Extremely delicious food, beautifully presented. In the evening we went to the bar for some cocktails, and this did not disappoint – classic and tasty! All in all, we had amazing 1-night stay in Indigo Dundee, we will definitely be back. My friend and I both work in hospitality so we know perfectly how hard work it is to provide such a seamless and warm service. Thank you for the extraordinary experience you provide! Carry on with your amazing attitude and service, it is greatly appreciated!’
Simply put, Dundee is the place to be and Hotel Indigo is the place to stay in.
