Few concerts can be as spectacularly scenic and atmospheric as the Glamis Prom. Staged in the grounds of one of Scotland’s most romantic castles, the prom combines enchanting music, an idyllic setting and excellent cuisine. As musical experiences go, well let’s just say it’s a tad classier than indie night at King Tut’s.
This year’s Glamis Proms concert on Saturday 16th July takes Hollywood as its inspiration, with stirring music from such blockbuster movies as Star Wars, The Bodyguard, Pirates Of The Caribbean and Harry Potter, as well as those familiar Bond themes.
Today’s Big Deal option one offers a picnic ticket to the Glamis Prom, with a free souvenir programme and a return admission ticket to visit the castle, valid for six months from 18th July.
Option two offers an exclusive Grandstand ticket with enhanced viewing with a free souvenir programme and a return admission ticket to visit the castle, valid for six months from 18th July.
In addition both options offer a 10% discount on purchases from the castle shop, for those all-important souvenirs.
Name that tune
Choose from a picnic ticket where you can relax and soak up the music, or Grandstand admission, offering excellent views of the performances.
This year’s Glamis Prom features the British Sinfonietta Orchestra performing music from the movies. Themes from major Hollywood movies ensure an enthusiastic response, particularly in the dramatic setting of Glamis Castle gardens.
Special guests conformed for the Prom include chanteuse Mica Paris, the Welsh vocalists and Britain’s Got Talent sensations Richard and Adam, X Factor finalist and powerful blues singer Melanie Masson and musical theatre luminary Norman Bowman.
The show concludes with a spectacular firework finale, with pyrotechnics lighting up the battlements.
Glamis Castle is closely associated with the royal family and is a memorable destination in its own right, even without the music. The offer includes a free return ticket to the castle valid for six months from 18th July.
The castle has been in the Lyon family since the 14th century. It is renowned for its beauty, and for the elegant landscaped gardens and grounds that include an arboretum with many rare trees from around the world.
Glamis Prom visitors and castle sightseers have been impressed by the spectacle. Glowing reviews on TripAdvisor include the following:
