Trigony House Hotel & Garden Spa is a relaxed 4* star country house escape in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway. Set in over four acres of mature woodlands and gardens, it is a lovely spot to explore in both autumn and winter.

The hotel’s award-winning restaurant serves rustic cuisine in a casual fine dining setting and there is also a bar area that you can eat in too.

The boutique Garden Spa includes an outside, wood-fired Swedish hot tub, Finnish sauna cabin and range of organic treatments.

The hotel is convenient to reach as it is just over an hour’s drive from Glasgow and less than two hours from Edinburgh.

Choice of four experiences

Today’s Big Deal has four options, depending on just how deluxe you want your stay to be:

Option one is for a one night bed & breakfast stay with tea & cakes for two on arrival and a glass of Prosecco each.

Option two is for a one night dinner, bed & breakfast stay with tea & cakes for two on arrival and a glass of Prosecco each.

Option three is for a one night dinner, bed & breakfast stay with tea & cakes on arrival, plus exclusive use of the outside Swedish hot tub & sauna and a glass of Prosecco each.

Option four is for a night dinner, bed & breakfast stay with tea & cakes on arrival, plus a glass of Prosecco each and one hour’s worth of holistic therapy treatment. The hour can be used for one person, or two people can have a half hour treatment each.

Dinner will be a three-course meal from the set menu.

All four options include an early check-in of 1pm and a late check-out of 1pm.

This offer is available seven days a week until the end of March. There is a £25 per night supplement for Friday and Saturday stays and a minimum 2 night stays for Saturdays.

Super comfortable rooms

Trigony House Hotel has nine well appointed en-suite rooms. Each has its own unique character and is individually furnished with fine handpicked luxury items.

Most rooms have views over either the gardens and Lowther Hills to the East or the Kier Hills to the West. All are decorated in a traditional style with a soft, soothing pastel colour scheme.

On arrival, you can enjoy the perk of a butler’s tray with homemade shortbread, tea, hot chocolate and real coffee. Then you can pamper yourself with luxury organic toiletries from Ishga on the Isle of Lewis. When it is time for sleep, you can enjoy a good night’s rest on your hand-sprung mattress dressed with fine Egyptian linen.

Other room features include free WiFi, a DVD player, flat-panel TV, air conditioning, desk and hairdryer. An iron with a board can be provided on request.

Award-winning dining

If you choose options two, three or four then you can enjoy a three-course meal during your stay.

The restaurant at Trigony House has won various awards for its cuisine and offers a relaxed fine dining experience complemented by a carefully chosen wine list.

Everything on the menu is made from scratch, from the deliciously aromatic bread to the decadent honey & whisky ice cream. All ingredients are sourced locally, with much of it being free range and organic. From summer to autumn the hotel’s walled garden supplies vegetables, herbs and fruit, meaning flavours are incredibly fresh.

Menus can change seasonally, but expect dishes such as the braised Scottish beef with porcini mushrooms, red wine and roast garlic mash, the fillet of fennel scented Scottish hake with a lemon & saffron risotto and the slow-roast belly of pork with apple mash and a calvados & cider glaze.

Vegetarians can treat themselves to dishes such as the leek, tarragon & Loch Arthur cheddar souffle or the Sri Lankan coconut vegetable curry with basmati rice.

A spa with a view

The Trigony Hotel Organic Boutique Garden Spa offers a truly holistic experience. This unique micro-spa has been designed to be a separate, private space where you can relax, unwind and be inspired by nature.

The stunning views from the outdoor wood-fired Swedish hot tub, Finnish sauna cabin and treatment areas complement the natural beauty therapies on offer. There is also a private garden with its own relaxation area. Complimentary herbal teas and cold drinks are served to guests.

The hotel’s bespoke spa therapies are all Organic Soil Association approved. Additionally, you can enjoy a treatments that incorporate other iconic beauty brands such as Ishga and Pinks.

‘Trigony is a classic privately owned small country house hotel, offering the sort of personal, charming and professional service of a bygone age. The rooms are comfortable without being fussy. The lounge cosy. The cuisine excellent, and always changing. The wine list and choice of gins and whisky wouldn’t be out of place in the best of restaurants. The fact that they welcome dogs makes the whole experience a little more chummy, although the dogs can be more chilled than their owners! The location is also gorgeous. Too many people fly by as Dumfries is between the Lakes and The Highlands. That’s a shame, although it does mean the experience is less crowded and touristy than its better known hinterland. There is some spectacular scenery here, rolling hills, wild moors and a great coastline. Trigony is a perfect homely hotel to base yourself in. Proof that when done well, British country hotels are unique, comfortable and charming.’
