Borders afternoon tea
Today’s Big Deal is from Born in the Borders, a gorgeous cafe near Jedburgh on the banks of the River Teviot.
There are two options with the deal. Option one is an afternoon tea for two. Option two is afternoon tea for two with the addition of a glass of Prosecco, a gin cocktail or an elderflower shandy cocktail.
The afternoon tea at Born in the Borders is the epitome of decadence. Created from scratch in their own kitchen, it’s made up of a daily changing selection of savouries like sausage rolls and smoked salmon sandwiches, fruit scones, and mouth watering cakes and sweet treats. The ingredients used in the tea come from local Borders producers.
Born in the Borders is a fabulous place to take kids – you can tuck into the afternoon tea while the wee ones enjoy all the activities on offer which include grass sledging, rollerskating and a sandpit.
Born the Borders has rave reviews on TripAdvisor with an average rating of four and a half stars out of five from 298 reviews.
Reviews of their afternoon tea say:
“We did not know what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and beautifully presented: instead of the classic sandwiches, the tray included a selection of cheese on toast, cheese scone, salmon fish cakes and avocado and chicken toast. The cakes were not too sweet and all fresh and homemade. A custard cream puff pastry was the highlight of the tray. We would definitely come back if in this area!”
“We arrived early and instead of tea had a refreshing lemonade while we waited. The food arrived at exactly the time we had booked it for and it was delicious. A lovely tomato soup, cheese scone, haggis balls and ham on toasted bread savoury selection with a cherry loaf, some sort of lemon mousse, a lovely buttery biscuit, a chocolate tray bake and custard cream pastry made up the sweet section. Everything was beautifully presented and very tasty. The staff were friendly and the location is excellent.”
This deal for afternoon tea is available seven days a week so there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy it.
With a gorgeous setting at the edge of the River Teviot, it would make a lovely winter day out.
If you have kids take them along and let them enjoy all the activities on offer while you tuck into the cakes (and cocktails).
And with validity from the start of January to 15th March, it’s perfect for a Christmas gift.
