Perfect gift idea

For hundreds of years, the monks of Dryburgh Abbey in the Borders were in the habit of living peaceful, tranquil lives.

These days, monks are rather rare around these parts but the peace and tranquillity remains.

Contemplate the good life with today’s Big Deal on a relaxing break at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel.

The St Boswells destination is on the banks of the River Tweed, next to the ruins of the abbey. The three star hotel the perfect spot for anyone keen to get away from it all while still enjoying levels of comfort which would make an otherwise observant monk cast off his cowl.

Country house hotel

Nestled in a magnificently wooded private estate, Dryburgh Abbey Hotel is a very special country house hotel.

Dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, the baronial hotel is situated in the heart of the Scottish Borders, just one hour from Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Surrounded by great golf courses, fantastic fishing, wonderful walking and some fine mountain biking, Dryburgh Abbey Hotel is a lovely spot in which to recharge the batteries.

Abbey room

Available seven days, option one of this Big Deal is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay in an ensuite Abbey Room with a full Scottish breakfast in the morning. The offer also includes a two course dinner with a glass of wine.

Option two is for two people to enjoy two consecutive nights in an Abbey room on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

There is free WiFi throughout the hotel.

A £10 supplement applies to overnight stays on Friday or Saturday and a £15 supplement applies to two night stays that include a Friday or Saturday – this is payable directly to the hotel.

Borders produce

The kitchen at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel loves to use fresh, seasonal Borders produce including vegetables and herbs from their walled kitchen garden.

A full Scottish breakfast each morning and a two course dinner with a glass of wine is included in the offer. Dinner at the Dryburgh is served either in the Abbey Bistro or Tweed Restaurant. A delicious à la carte menu is served Sunday to Thursday, and a tantalising table d’hôte menu is offered on a Friday and Saturday evening.

See & do

The Borders offer fantastic walking, cycling and many sites of historical interest. Country sports are very popular in the surrounding area and the hotel has fishing rights to the River Tweed.

Alternatively, guests are welcome to take a gentle stroll around the grounds before retiring to the fireside in the lounge with a good book.

Please note that fishing is seasonal.

Pool and sauna

Those who have spent a long day on the hill or river will appreciate the indoor heated pool and sauna at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel.
