Some people just have no idea what to buy for a loved one.
‘Just pick what you like, I’ll like whatever you choose’, they say nonchalantly, leaving you in a total tailspin. Shopping meltdown, ahoy.
But today’s Big Deal from the The Anchorage Hotel in Troon could be the solution you seek.
With one or two nights stay for two in an atmospheric seaside hotel, a full Scottish breakfast and spacious rooms, this has all the makings of a lovely gift.
Full Scottish breakfast
Today’s Big Deal has two options.
Option one is for two people to have a one night stay in a double or twin room with a full Scottish breakfast in the morning plus a 15% discount on food ordered from the main menu. This option is available Sunday to Thursday.
Available Sunday to Thursday, option two is for two people to enjoy a two night stay in a double or twin room with a full Scottish breakfast each morning.
Option two includes a two course dinner for each guest on the first night plus a 15% discount on food ordered from the main menu.
The large spacious rooms maintain the traditional Scottish theme found throughout the hotel and each room is named after a malt whisky.
There are nineteen en-suite rooms with some having an excellent view of the Marina and the Isle of Arran. Each room has a direct dial telephone, tea and coffee facilities, colour television, hairdryer and use of ironing facilities.
Guests can upgrade to a sea view room for a £10 per night supplement.
Fresh, local produce
The hotel’s warm and welcoming bar restaurant is the perfect place to sample fresh, local produce. The menu changes regularly but typical dishes might be the pan-fried breast of chicken with black pudding and whisky cream or the haddock goujons with fries, salad and a tartare sauce.
If we do get some winter sun, the large garden area is popular for dining and drinks.
See and do
Ayrshire is perfect for the keen golfer with twenty challenging courses in the area and six of them are on the doorstep in Troon.
Close to The Anchorage Hotel you will find Royal Troon Golf Club, host of The British Open Championship eight times, most recently in 2004. The nearby town of Prestwick boasts the world famous Old Prestwick course, home of the very first Open Championship in 1851.
There are plenty of outdoor activities with sailing, windsurfing, fishing and horse riding all available in the surrounding area.
Of course, The Anchorage Hotel offers plenty of options to entertain guests both young and old. The traditional Scottish bar is a great place to relax with a malt whisky. The entertainment on offer includes live sporting events, quiz nights and a DJ.
