The eight cottages are set in the beautiful 200 acre private parklands which surround the Grade A listed Blairquhan Castle – a five star exclusive use venue which is popular for weddings, events and private parties.

With well-established woodlands, beautifully manicured lawns, an avenue of 18th century lime trees and a walled garden, it is a beautiful spot to explore.

This offer is for a two night stay in one of eight cottages. A mix of traditional and refurbished cottages, they come in a variety of sizes sleeping four, six, seven and nine people.

Available seven days a week, there is a supplement for Friday and Saturday night stays.

Cosy and comfortable

Each cottage comes complete with wonderfully luxurious towels and bed linen. Oil-fired central heating will keep you warm and cosy regardless of what the weather may be up to and both electricity usage and WiFi are included in the booking price too.

All cottages come with the necessary amenities that you would expect from a self-catering accommodation, so you can step straight in and make yourself at home.

There is a supermarket nearby if you need to top up your supplies.

Historic castle

Once you are settled in you are free to explore the fabulous grounds at Blairquhan.

Many miles of woodland walks are there to be discovered – it has its own tree trail – as well as a beautiful stretch of the River Girvan just north of the castle.

There is even a Giant Redwood tree on the estate that is believed to have been grown from a seed brought to Scotland from America by the SS Great Britain in the 19th century.

The castle as it stands today was completed in 1824. However, the original tower-house was erected on the site back in 1346. Remarkably, only four families lived on the estate from that date until 2012 when the current owners, Ganten Scotland, bought the property.

Blairquhan was also used as a replacement for Balmoral Castle in the 2006 Oscar-winning motion picture The Queen, starring Helen Mirren, as well as featuring in many other films and television programmes.

See and do

A 30 minute drive from Ayr, Blairquhan is extremely well situated for enjoying a game of golf on one of the famous South Ayrshire links courses such as Turnberry or Troon.

Of course, Robert Burns was born at nearby Alloway. Guests can explore Burns Cottage and museum, Burns Monument, the Brig O’Doon and haunted Alloway Kirk as well as relaxing at the Tam O’Shanter Experience visitor centre. Culzean Castle and Country Park are also very popular local attractions.

And, for those who like the horses, Ayr Racecourse has a full programme of meetings.
