Old Loans Inn

Old Loans Inn started life as an 18th century coaching inn in the village of Loans on the outskirts of Troon.

Not many guests arrive by horse and coach these days but the inn still has a sterling reputation for looking after travellers, holidaymakers, local residents and anybody who enjoys good, honest food in convivial surrounds.

Available noon to 10pm, from Sunday to Friday, the offer is for two people to have a starter and main course from the Celebration menu at the Old Loans Inn.

Dishes may change according to the seasonal produce available, but expect starters like soup of the day with tomato bread, chicken liver and brandy parfait with red onion jam and toasted brioche, and roasted red pepper and goats’ cheese bon bons with spiced aioli and rocket salad.

Mains may feature the chilli, ginger and soy glazed salmon fillet with charred pak choi and saffron potatoes with soy dip, the 24 hour braised shin of beef with smoked paprika mash, roasted winter vegetables and classic chasseur sauce, and the baby spinach, ricotta and piquillo pepper canneloni with tomato fondue and Arran cheddar crumb.
