When it comes to drama and romance, a sweeping Scottish castle on a clifftop is pretty unbeatable.
And Culzean Castle must be one of the most romantic and dramatic of them all. Overlooking the Ayrshire cliffs, it is one of Scotland’s prettiest coastal jewels.
Now if only it were possible to hide away inside it as a secret guest after the doors close on the very last sightseer for the day…
As a matter of fact, it is. For, if you take a special 1940s elevator to the upper floors, you will find a small and opulent hotel. Named after its former guest, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the hotel offers amazing panoramic views across the sea.
Experience this magical hideaway for yourself with today’s Big Deal for an overnight B&B stay with dinner for two at The Eisenhower.
Set in The National Trust for Scotland’s Culzean Country Park, the imposing Culzean Castle blends medieval and neoclassical influences. Designed by famous architect Robert Adam, it really is a fairytale masterpiece.
The Eisenhower is in keeping with its dramatic setting, offering six unique bedrooms and Adam’s dramatic circular saloon for guests to enjoy.
Individually decorated and styled with period furniture, all of the rooms have views of the sea or the stunning castle grounds.
A £60 supplement per night is payable directly to the hotel for stays in the Ailsa or Eisenhower suites.
Available Thursday to Sunday from 1st November until 22nd December, the Big Deal is for two people to stay one night in a double room with a cream tea on arrival and two course set dinner each. A pre-dinner drink is also included – you have the luxury of choosing what you want.
The offer also includes full Scottish breakfast.
The menus at The Eisenhower place emphasis on freshly prepared local produce, including fruit and vegetables grown in the gardens at Culzean.
Menus change with the seasons, but typical starters include chicken liver parfait with maple glazed smokey bacon and oatcakes or the oak smoked Scottish salmon roulade with horseradish, Avruga caviar, pickled fennel and ciabatta crisp.
Mains include pan seared fillet of wild halibut with sweetcorn, brown shrimp, samphire and dill oil and the roast breast of Gressingham duck, confit leg, parsnip puree, cherries and port reduction.
Dessert favourites feature buttermilk and lemon pannacotta with strawberry sorbet and meringue and the white chocolate and raspberry creme brûlée with raspberry shortbread.
See & do

5pm bookers who were lucky enough to grab this deal the last time it was available have left glowing reviews, underlying how special an experience this stay at Culzean is:
‘We stayed in the Ailsa Suite as Storm Freya battered the castle, but were cosy inside, able to look at the sea storms while taking afternoon tea before we enjoyed a tour that thoroughly entertained us. Delicious dinner and breakfast, great wine selection, staff that made us feel right at home.’ Caroline J
‘This deal was fabulous! The staff could not have been more helpful, the service and food was excellent, the room was just wonderful with magnificent sea views. Could not fault it in any way – one of the best deals ever.’ Siobhan S.
