The Big Deal is for a stay in one of three luxury cottages which are collectively known as The Steadings. Each cottage has its own character. They all offer a real freedom and a sense of independence that you only really find on an island. They provide the perfect getaway for couples, groups of friends or family.

Each cottage can be booked for two, three, five or seven nights. This offer is valid seven days a week until the end of March 2018.

None of the cottages have WiFi. WiFi can be accessed at The Boathouse Restaurant Isle of Gigha, Gigha Gallery, Gigha Hotel and the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry terminal.

The Barn

The Barn sleeps four with one double and one twin room.

Two extra guests can be accommodated in a Z-bed in the living room. A travel cot for infants is available on request. The double bedroom has en-suite bathroom facilities.

The kitchen area is equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and washing machine plus a dining table to seat four.

There is a colour television and DVD player in the lounge for those relaxing evenings in front of the log-burning fire with a glass of your favourite malt whisky.

Logs and kindling are available by prior arrangement.

The Byre

The Byre sleeps six in one double and two twin rooms.

The fully equipped kitchen diner area has a fridge, washing machine, cooker and microwave.

The lounge area has colour TV and log burner. Logs and kindling are available by arrangement.

The Stable

Located not far from the entrance to Achamore Gardens, The Stable offers cosy accommodation for two or four.

Both the lounge area and the bedroom have fine views over the sound of Gigha.

It has one double bedroom with ensuite facilities that include a Jacuzzi bath, separate shower and twin sinks.

Gorgeous Gigha

Gigha may be small but there is no shortage of things to do on the island. Many guests like to explore the magnificent Achamore Gardens.

You could also hire a sea kayak, rowing boat or wetsuit from Gigha Boats Activity Centre; play the island’s challenging 9-hole golf course or simply walk to the top of Creag Bhan and watch the sun set behind Islay.

There is plenty to explore on the island. Look out for standing stones, the silver sands of Johnny’s Shore, the Spouting Cave and the Quern stone quarry.

A highlight for many visitors is watching dolphins play off the South Pier. No promises but sightings of Golden eagles are by no means unheard of.

Island getaway

The drive from Glasgow to the Tayinloan ferry passes Loch Lomond, the Rest-and-Be-Thankful pass, Loch Long and Loch Fyne.

It takes about two and a half hours and many reckon it is one of the most beautiful drives in Scotland.

Add on the ferry trip and you could leave Glasgow at lunch and be enjoying the views from your cottage before Countdown starts.
