Taychreggan Hotel

Located on the shores of Loch Awe, the 300-year-old Taychreggan Hotel had a lovely makeover early last year.

Country house hotel

Built on a small peninsula that juts out into Loch Awe, Taychreggan is at the loch’s narrowest crossing point and drovers would make their cattle swim across the water from the inn.

Now a beautiful, white-washed, country house hotel, the Taychreggan has one of the finest loch-side locations in Scotland.

Romantic stay

Majestic mountains; deep forests and stunning lochs make the area a perfect spot for walkers, fishermen, mountain bikers and, of course, romantics.

Spend a little time here and it will come as no surprise that the AA awarded the Taychreggan the title of ‘One of Britain’s Most Romantic Hotels’.

However you choose to spend your time, roaring fires, over-stuffed chairs, a snooker room and the welcoming Drovers’ Bar mean that the Taychreggan offers plenty of Highland comforts to return to at the end of the day.

Loch views

Available seven days a week, this Big Deal has three options. Option one is for two people to enjoy a relaxing overnight bed and breakfast stay in a junior suite at the Taychreggan Hotel.

Option 2 includes a 3 course dinner each and option 3 is for a two night stay with dinner on the 1st evening.

Late checkout to noon means that you won’t have to rush your breakfast.

The junior suites boast the best loch views, having been completely refurbished they all feature separate showers along with stand-alone baths. All rooms are ensuite and feature beautiful fabrics, fluffy dressing gowns, flat screen TVs (limited channels), bottled water, a tea and coffee-making tray and hairdryer.

Junior suites also have the added bonus of a small sitting area in front of the loch view windows.

Local produce

A fantastic, full Scottish breakfast is included in the offer.

If you choose options 2 or 3 you will also enjoy a three course dinner in the hotel restaurant where the arched windows provides spectacular views down Loch Awe.

The kitchen makes the most of local produce on the regularly changing, three course, table d’hôte evening menu.

‘A magical getaway. We spent the night here but wish we’d stayed for longer. Outstanding views and a wonderful dinner. Breakfast was fantastic too. The porridge was the best I’ve ever tasted. I’ve tried to make it at home but it’s never the same! Look out for Jock the Peacock who you might see strutting around. Intend to go back next time we are in the Highlands and stay for longer next time.’

‘Had a wonderful one-night stay in the family suite, which was a perfect set up for our two boys (under 12). Room was refurbished to a high standard… Evening meal reached culinary excellence, and yet catered easily to the boys’ less aspiring needs. Morning breakfast was also well, well above the standard fare… Though there were others staying in the hotel, it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Manager was extremely accommodating to all our needs… and went out of her way to make us feel welcome and at home. Stunning setting, with much to keep our boys occupied outside, around the shore, or inside, with a full-sized snooker table… the recent refurbishments have made this a very attractive stay. It’s not a bargain, but in the end we felt it value for money. We’d certainly come again.’
