Built in 1883, the Mull hotel served as Navy billets in the Second World War.

Available seven days a week, option one is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay in a double or twin room. A bottle of Prosecco in your room on arrival will get your stay off to a sparkling start.

See & do

Ben More, with an elevation of roughly 1,000 metres, is a popular climb and the island has many other fine hill walks of varying degrees of difficulty.

There are guided wildlife tours of Mull and you may be lucky enough to see puffin colonies, dolphins, great whales, basking sharks, sea eagles.

The island is also home to many historical sites and monuments, including a bronze age stone circle at Loch Buie and iron age fortified duns and crannogs.

Tobermory is famous for its colourful waterfront buildings and harbour. There are also plenty of beautiful beaches and bays from Calgary and Kilninian in the north to Loch Buie and Carsaig in the south.

Getting there

Catch a ferry to the Isle for Mull from either Oban to Craignure; Fishnish to Lochaline or Kilchoan to Tobermory itself. And then either drive or catch a bus to Tobermory from the ferry port.

‘We booked for two but stayed for three nights as we enjoyed the hotel, its staff and Mull so much. Yes, the hotel is in need of refurbishment and yes, you will notice the bumps, scratches and creaking joints of this old gal of a hotel… But she is a charming old dear and if you visit with some acceptance of her frailties you will love it…. Andrew, the owner, explained the history of the hotel and the programme of refurbishment which has already begun… Freshly caught fish and seafood are delivered to the hotel daily which made dining delicious. We spent some quiet lovely moments watching the comings and goings of harbour life and the ever-changing scenery before us… We shall be back and we shall book The Western Isles.’
