Available 7 days a week

When you want to get away, nothing beats an island.

And, at just over three hours journey time from Glasgow, Gigha offers a convenient escape.

It helps that the drive past Loch Lomond and up over the Rest and Be Thankful pass is one of the most scenic in Scotland.

Enjoy some island hospitality with today’s Big Deal on a one or two night getaway at the Gigha Hotel.

Perched quietly above Ardminish Bay, the hotel has unsurpassed views of the Kintyre Peninsula and beyond.

A family-run hotel, the staff pride themselves on their warm welcome.

Explore all that Gigha has to offer with today’s Big Deal.

Sea view rooms

Available seven days a week, option one is for two people to have an overnight stay in a Double or Twin room with a full Scottish breakfast and a two course dinner.

If you want to stay a bit longer, option two is for two nights with breakfast and dinner each day of your stay.

All rooms are ensuite, spacious and extremely comfortable with a colour television, tea and coffee making facilities and sea views.

A large, comfortable guest lounge offers a quiet space to read, enjoy board games or just to relax and unwind.

Scottish produce

As well as a full Scottish breakfast, guest will enjoy a two course dinner in the hotel’s Sound of Gigha Bistro.

Awarded a Taste Our Best 2015/16 title from Visit Scotland, the hotel’s chefs are proud to serve local ingredients such as fresh or smoked halibut as well as the hotel’s own cured halibut.

Typical starters include garlic bruschetta with homemade tomato & basil ragu, sprinkled with cheese, and pan seared scallops in garlic butter and apple chutney.

Mains include the breaded chicken breast burger with garlic mayo and ciabatta bun with fries, beer battered onion rings, gherkin and salad garnish; Capriccioso pizza with quality Mozzarella, homemade Napoli tomato sauce, mushroom and ham, and West Coast haddock in crispy batter with chips and peas.

The hotel is happy to cater for dietary requirements and ask guests to inform them in advance.

Guests may wish to upgrade to the four course traditional Christmas menu for £9.95 per person.

While Gigha and the islands of Japan may not appear to have much in common, there is a link. The chefs at the Gigha Hotel are dab hands at creating innovative bento boxes. Ideal for picnics, the hotel offers four different bento boxes including one filled with Gigha smoked halibut, smoked salmon, couscous, salad and dip. The bento boxes are not included in the offer.

See and do

Gigha may be small but there is no shortage of things to do on the island. Many guests like to explore the magnificent Achamore Gardens.

You could also hire a sea kayak, rowing boat or wetsuit from Gigha Boats Activity Centre; play the island’s challenging 9-hole golf course or simply walk to the top of Creag Bhan and watch the sun set behind Islay.

A highlight for many visitors is watching dolphins play off the South Pier.

Happy guests

Gigha Hotel has lots of fans on TripAdvisor, as these excerpts from recent reviews show:

‘The Gigha hotel is a clean, friendly hotel… lovely staff that are really friendly. The food was good and well served. Good choices but thought there would be a bit more fish choices. Wine choices good. The small bar was a great wee place to talk to locals and find out about Gigha. The setting is a big attraction if weather is good.’

‘A very friendly welcome… room very clean with wonderful views of the island. Dinner was excellent and good value for money. Breakfast the next morning was cooked also to the same high standard as the dinner…’

Island getaway

If the thought of a long autumn in the office is making you twitch, it’s time to make a break for the islands.

Snap up this Big Deal from Gigha Hotel and look forward to watching the sun set over Islay.

Ease of booking and no real'catches'. It is what you say on the 'tin'! Great value - would you consider looking at the 'whole' deal and perhaps negotiating cheaper ferries etc - like a package deal?

We love visiting Hotels on the islands of the west coast of Scotland.
