We’ve said it before and we will say it again. Norway’s fjords, Brazil’s beaches and France’s Riviera are all OK.
It’s just that for us, Scotland’s West Coast is better.
Rugged mountains tumbling down to sea lochs; the sun setting over the islands plus enough castles, cairns and legends for several BBC series – what could be better?
Grab some West Coast magic with today’s Big Deal on a dinner, bed and breakfast break at the Regent Hotel in Oban.
Built in the glamorous Art Deco style, the Regent Hotel is an eye-catching building with an enviable location on the town’s esplanade.

A delicious three course table d’hôte menu will be served to guests on the night of their arrival. Guests will also enjoy a full Scottish breakfast each morning – a great set-you-up for exploring the town or the surrounding coastline.
As well as the Marine Restaurant with its magnificent sea views, the hotel also serves bar food in the Marine Lounge while the Cellar Bar is popular for a pint and watching the footie on SKY or ESPN.
See & do
Known as the Gateway to the Isles, Oban is a busy spot for day trips to the islands. We can also recommend the tours at Oban Distillery and, for adventurous types, the Seafari expeditions which go wildlife spotting on rigid inflatable boats.
The Regent Hotel has its fair share of admirers. A recurring point is the cheery disposition and can-do attitude of the staff. This is what a recent guest had to say on TripAdvisor:
‘Staff make this a very good hotel. Second visit to Regent Hotel. Staff are helpful, efficient, friendly, accommodating. Value for money on this bargain break could not have been better – I almost wonder how the hotel makes any profit. The view from the room, to use estate agent speak, was stunning. Hotel was warm and comfortable, despite January howling outside. The room was clean, fresh, reasonably spacious, had panoramic views over the bay and islands, and gave a welcoming impression on first walking in. Meals were good – a choice of three items at each course, and service always quietly efficient with any variations we requested (as vegetarians) readily produced. Yes, you can talk of faded grandeur, and tired Art Deco styling, but this was a wonderful break, and the hotel was a central part of it.’
Just over a two hour drive from Glasgow, The Regent Hotel is convenient for a short break. Snap up this Big Deal and enjoy some West Coast magic.
