Long ago, high on Ben Cruachan, an ancient Celtic Goddess had a magic well of youth. But one night it spilled down the mountain, creating Loch Awe.
She spent thousands of years wailing in despair, until one day a stunning hotel called Ardanaiseig opened on the loch’s shores. She promptly checked in, enjoyed a night of luxury and cheered up straight away.
Okay, so maybe we made that last bit up. But it is true that a little luxury can go a very long way.

Ardanaiseig Hotel has earned itself a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. Here is one of many recent rave reviews, edited for length:
‘Alluring hotel within picturesque surroundings. This exquisite hotel is right on the edge of the beautiful Loch Awe… the inside of the hotel is like a palace with very affluent decor but still manages to give a cosy, comfortable feel with stunning views of the loch and surrounding forests and gardens. Guests can even choose to borrow a small motor boat to explore the loch and local islands or even do a spot of fishing. I’ll definitely be making this a regular getaway spot, although next time I think it will be with my boyfriend as it’s also quite a romantic setting. The staff were really lovely and the food was out of this world. I actually discovered you can go there just for dinner, which I will undoubtedly do any time I’m in the area. I cannot recommend this place enough.’
