Tangled up in tinsel yet?
The run up to Christmas can be hectic.
Give yourself some breathing space with today’s Big Deal on a relaxing break at Chandlers Hotel on the Isle of Bute.
With a brilliant location on Ascog Bay, it’s a very popular spot among those looking to get away from it all and simply relax.
The house is a twenty minute walk from the main seaside town of Rothesay, which is populated with cafes, restaurants, public houses and an engaging array of independent shops.
One of the easiest Scottish islands to access, Bute has two ferry links to the mainland and excellent train links.
It is easy to travel to and from the Central Belt but feels gloriously remote from the frantic pace of life in the city.
Relaxing mini break
Today’s offer is for two people to relax with a one or two consecutive night stay in a classic double or twin room in the welcoming Chandlers Hotel.
Both options include a continental breakfast for each guest.
A complimentary glass of house wine is included for guests who are dining in the restaurant.
Well known for the warmth of its welcome, Chandlers is a spacious, detached property with unsurpassed views over the Clyde to the Ayrshire coast and beyond.
Each of the nine gorgeous and independently decorated bedrooms have well appointed en-suite bathrooms stocked with a selection of quality toiletries, cotton wool, tissues, shaving mirror and good selection of soft towels.
The house itself has a cosy snug area with comfy sofas and a bar.
A grand piano is the focus of the music lounge, accompanied by several guitars, amps, music stands and more comfy seating. The living room has ample seating, a flat screen TV, a selection of games, a small library and sound bar for iPods.
Fresh & local
Guests are welcome to dine in the hotel’s elegant restaurant. Fresh local produce is to the fore on the regularly changing menus.
Starters include dishes such as traditional Cullen skink or French onion soup. For a main course you might choose the seared chicken escalope or the poached fresh salmon.
There are also a range of desserts to choose from, such as the honey whipped meringue and the homemade apple pie.
See & do on Bute
From rounds of golf to gentle cycling trips on almost deserted roads, the Isle of Bute offers plenty of fun activities. Horse riding is a popular past time on the island as are water sports, diving and, of course, making the most of the isle’s many coastal walks.
The West Island Way Walk starts in a wee village close by and is just one of the breathtaking walks available on the island.
A popular destination for fishing, the inland lochs are popular with anglers for coarse and game fishing. Loch Fad offers anglers an opportunity to fish for rainbow trout and is only three miles from the house. Anyone with an interest in sea angling will be spoilt for choice.
Chandlers Hotel has attracted plenty of glowing reviews from guests on TripAdvisor. These are excerpts from two longer reviews:

Need to escape the city? Sail away to Chandlers Hotel on Bute and enjoy an island mini-break with today’s Big Deal.
With the offer valid until the end of March 2018, it could also be used as a post-Christmas mini-break.
After a week with the relatives, the thought of some island tranquillity could be very appealing at the start of the year.
