When things get a bit hectic, we like to visit places with a vast horizon.
Places that look like they lead somewhere else. Places with big waves and bigger skies.
Set sail for today’s Big Deal from The Anchor Hotel in Tarbert and expand your horizons.
Offering a one, two or three night stay for two in an atmospheric harbourside hotel, this has all the makings of a lovely gift.
And with validity to the end of June, it would also make a welcome escape for anybody who could use a few days off.
Full Scottish breakfast
Today’s Big Deal has six options, all available seven days a week.
Options one to three are for two people to have a stay in a standard double or twin room with full Scottish breakfast each morning, plus petits fours and a bottle of Prosecco in the room on arrival, available for one, two or three nights respectively.
Option four to six are for two people to have a stay in a standard double or twin room with full Scottish breakfast each morning, plus £20 per person dinner spend and bottle of house wine on the first night.
The dinner spend is for food only, and cannot be carried over.
All guest rooms are a welcoming, snug and safe haven from the elements, with an elegant blend of contemporary design and a truly Scottish twist.
Luxury Scottish toiletries, flat screen TV, WiFi, hospitality trays, sumptuous Hypno beds and soft, rich carpets all ensure guest comfort.
Fresh, local produce
The beautifully designed Seabed Restaurant offers local and seasonal produce with plenty of seafood options.
The menu changes regularly but typical dishes on the dinner menu might be the seafood curry; the slow roasted beef; the steak and Loch Fyne Ale pie plus the traditional battered or breaded fish and chips.
Of course, Scottish langoustines, scallops, mussels and oysters all make a regular appearance on the menus.
See and do
If the setting inspires the urge to ride the waves, the islands of Islay, Arran or Gigha are a ferry ride away.
This is an historic region with Bruce’s castle in Tarbert, and the beautiful, well-preserved Skipness Castle a few miles to the South. There are even older relics at Kilmartin Glen, with its ancient standing stones.
Whisky aficionados will enjoy tracing the distillery trail around the islands and the Cowal Peninsula.
