Perched on a clifftop and reached by a winding fairytale path, Dunnottar Castle is one of Scotland’s most postcard-perfect scenes.
Now imagine being able to enjoy that view from the private deck of a five star luxury lodge (ideally with a glass of fizz or a dram in hand).
If this sounds like the kind of escape you have been craving, then take a nosy at this Big Deal for a mini-break to Dalriada Luxury Lodges in Aberdeenshire.
Up to four people can stay in each lodge, making this ideal for either a romantic getaway or family break.

Each of these airy five star lodges has been crafted to create a comfortable and stylish home-from-home, from the tasteful decor to the South-facing living room to the private deck area.
All lodges also offer two big ensuite bedrooms with either super king size of twin beds, a fully fitted designer kitchen with plenty of utensils (including that all-important corkscrew) and free WiFi.
From beach walks to bottlenose dolphin spotting to haunting ruins, there is plenty to see and do nearby. For instance, the fishing town of Stonehaven is just a short drive away and is known for its pretty and peaceful harbour.
Fowlsheugh Cliffs RSPB reserve attracts thousands of breeding seabirds every year, including puffins, while nearby Stonehaven Golf Club offers panoramic coastal views and exciting clifftop tees. With today’s Big Deal, a round of golf and full use of the club facilities is included.
We have already waxed lyrical about the photogenic Dunnottar Castle but if you would like to soak up more history then the remains of Cowie Chapel are also worth seeing.
Other attractions include the town’s original heated 1930s lido, as well as its shops, bars, museums and leisure club.
Recent guests have lavished Dalriada Luxury Lodges with praise, giving the accomodation an overall 5/5 TripAdvisor score (based on 18 reviews). Here are some examples:
‘Amazing. The location of the lodges are stunning, they are very stylish and amazing. Would be lovely to stay in the summer when the weather is better. The weather still didn’t put a damper on the view, it is amaaaaaaaaaazing.’
‘Modern and beautifully appointed luxury lodge on a stunning location providing fabulous view across Stonehaven. We stayed in early December and the care and attention shown by Kelly and her family was second to none – from the immaculate surroundings to the lovely touches such as a welcome pack – even Archie the dog had his own welcome pack! There’s a lovely walk along the cliffs to Stonehaven with its characterful harbour and bars and restaurants. A great base for exploring the Mearns.’
‘We stayed for a 2 night break in the Dalriada lodges at the end of November. The attention to detail in the luxury lodges is unrivalled to anywhere we have stayed previously. The location is brilliant with commanding sea views and the owners couldn’t have been any more accommodating to our needs. We have already started planning our return to this fantastic new addition to the north east of Scotland. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a luxury short break in a wonderful setting.’
