Let's get the silly stuff out the way, we booked the Claret Jug restaurant at Cameron house for 7.30pm so we went and arrived at Cameron house and all its grandeur at 6.30pm for some drinks and cocktails, we had a lovely window seat and the cocktails were brilliant so at 7.25 we asked reception to point us in the right direction for our dinner the place is enormous so as first timers we were walking about like lost sheep.
Ok have a wee laugh if you like but we were then told the Claret jug restaurant wasn't at Cameron house but it's actually 3 miles away at the Carrick golf club which is part of Cameron house , to be fair hotel offered the services of a free concierge transport but I was driving anyway. LESSON LEARNED however on arrival at the Carrick golf club we had a very nice evening and a nice meal which had great ambience, spotless toilets and a great window seat we will be back but not rushed about like last night was. I don't like the Americanisation of a 10% added to bill for service I like to be the one to decide on a gratuity take note Carrick we are Scottish.
