I had booked a meal for two on the 10/10/2014 at 12.45 for lunch from the White Menu at the Kailyard. This was for my partners birthday and I had requested a window table. When we arrived we were told that they had no record of our booking and it must actually be in the "Cocktail Bar". So then we walked along there only to be told again that they had no record of our booking. I showed the confirmation email and the girl at the Cocktail Bar went to investigate. She came back a few minutes later only to say, "Actually the Kailyard don't do lunches anymore".
This was not the greatest start to what was supposed to be a special birthday lunch. The girl in the Cocktail Bar was apologetic and quite friendly so we ended up having lunch in the lounge area to the left as we had already travelled far.
The menu was not as advertised, we ordered for starters, chicken liver parfait to be told that was not on the menu anymore. Instead we had chicken terrine - which to be honest looked like a Sheba cat pouch. It was very unseasoned also. The mains - (not much choice but what do you expect from a bar menu) the burger and ciabiatta were fine.
We were not even offered a discount. I will not return to either the Dunblane Hydro Doubletree Hotel nor the Kailyard. 5pm and the Kailyard need to communicate clearly. As this miscommunication spoilt, as I have said before, what was supposed to be a very special birthday lunch.
