Booked via 5pm e evening before I wanted to go for a meal with 2 friends. When we turned up, the booking apparently wasn't on the system.
Advised the greeter that I had booked with 5pm and was on the 5pm pre-theatre offer, as I could see on the sandwich boards outside the restaurant that the pre-theatre menu was advertised at a higher price than quoted on the 5pm site.
We were given the pre-theatre menu @ £12.95 for two courses and also the regular menu to look at.
We asked for tap water was which was delivered in an old whisky bottle, which was a nice touch. Water was lovely and cold.
I had to show the waitress the 5pm deal - two courses for £9.95 - which she needed to check with the manager. That was fair enough. We were told that the online offer would be honoured but the website hadn't been updated.
The food seemed to take an age to come out. I would guess at least half an hour for the starter, and the place wasn't that busy, it was only about a third full.
Garlic mushrooms on crostini - very average and couldn't taste any garlic.
Garlic char grilled chicken on a bed of roasted new potatoes, with buttered cabbage and gravy. Again couldn't taste the garlic, but the veggies and gravy were delicious. Chicken was fine.
The waitresses were friendly enough when they did come to the table but the service just didn't seem very slick.
Like the surroundings but not thrilled by the food even at £10 for two courses.
