About The River Restaurant

Riverside fine dining in Spinningfields

If you are looking for an AA Rosette dining experience with the added bonus of a waterside setting, The River Restaurant at the five-star Lowry Hotel certainly fits the bill. Perched on the banks of the Irwell, this impressive restaurant boasts Manchester’s longest bar terrace, perfect for dining on sunnier days. Inside, you will find an airy, glass-walled space overlooking Santiago Calatrava’s Trinity Bridge. Purple leather chairs, semi-circular banquettes, a hip range of artworks and even a library corner all create a chic and comfy vibe. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner are all served here, including Sunday lunches. Live piano music and singing on Thursdays and Sundays adds to the buzz.

High-quality, classic British dishes

Executive Chef Dave Ashton uses the best local and seasonal produce to create classic British dishes.

Menus can change regularly, but expect starters such as pan-fried scallops with scallop ceviche, peanut, lime and avocado, and A5 Wagyu beef with celeriac remoulade, ponzu and wasabi dressing.

Mains could include wild line-caught sea bass with cockle minestrone, courgette and basil puree, while meat-lovers can tuck into rump of Cheshire Farm lamb with lamb fat carrot, roast onion, braised rib and mint sauce. Popular sharing dishes include Beef Wellington and the 42oz Cheshire Farm Tomahawk steak.
