About Adam Reid at The French
The French is one of the Manchester’s iconic restaurants. One of the first in the UK to be awarded a Michelin star, many famous people have dined there over the years, Victoria and David Beckham had their first date there!
Previously associated with high class fine dining, the restaurant now has a more laid back feel due to the arrival of chef patron Adam Reid.
Adam Reid at The French
Adam Reid, winner of the BBC’s Great British Menu in 2016, has taken The French’s fine dining menu and given it a more relaxed feel without compromising on quality.
He also refurbished the restaurant’s grand Grade II listed dining room, keeping the elaborate cornicing and suspended crystal chandeliers but switching the colour scheme to sophisticated grey and beige tones and installing curved leather banquette seating.
Modern British dishes
Reid has taken the menus at The French in a contemporary direction while still respecting the restaurant’s heritage.
The menus offer modern British food created using organic, hand picked seasonal produce and the latest technological advances. There are three menus at The French; a four course menu, a six course menu and a nine course menu, all featuring dishes which perfectly complement each other.
The menus at The French change with the seasons but dishes may include salt aged duck with purple beetroot and pickled elderberry, brill baked in beef butter and morel cream sauce, or tater ‘ash with mushroom catsup, bread and butter.
Desserts on the menus might be rhubarb jelly, ginger malt ice cream or easy peeler with white chocolate and sea buckthorn.
Guests dining on the menus have the option of plumping for the matching wine list which features glasses of wine selected by The French which perfectly complement each course.
Manchester city centre transport links
The French is located in central Manchester close to many transport links. Manchester Oxford Road and Deansgate Rail Stations are both a five minute walk away. The restaurant is close to a number of bus stops and paid car parks.
