Contemporary Italian dining in Uddingston
The Italian at Redstones serves up award-winning Italian cuisine with a distinctly homely feel. The restaurant and cocktail bar spans two floors, creating plenty of space for diners to enjoy a relaxed breakfast, lunch or dinner. The bar offers an extensive range of craft cocktails, as well as Italian and world wines. Weekly live music adds to the buzz.
Award-winning Italian cuisine
The restaurant’s kitchen brigade have previously been recognised at a national level at the Italian Awards 2016. The menu is extensive and, as well as all the classic dishes you’d expect, also features a few surprises that you won’t find at other Italian dining spots. Diners can try out a range of pizzas, pastas and seafood, as well as steak, lamb, chicken and burgers prepared on a charcoal grill for extra flavour.
A customer favourite is the starter of hot chilli gamberetti, featuring black tiger king prawns pan-fried with spring onions, cherry tomatoes, garlic, lemon zest and fresh red chilli. Or if you fancy a touch of Scottish-Italian fusion, then tuck into the haggis arancini balls served with a wholegrain whisky cream sauce. For something a little different, try out the Lebanese-influenced spicy beef or chicken served on a bed of hummus.
Highlights of the pizzas and pastas include handmade lobster ravioli with ingredients imported from Italy, or the Redstone special calzone stuffed with chicken, ham, pepperoni, mixed peppers and mushrooms. Or why not try out the hot and spicy Sophia Loren pizza instead?
Grill steaks, seafood and more
All steaks at The Italian are matured for at least 30 days before being chargrilled and served with a choice of peppercorn, garlic butter, blue cheese or diane sauce. Take your pick from sirloin, rib eye, fillet, tomahawk or T-bone, or try out the tender lamb ribs or a lamb skewer cooked in a special marinade.
If fish is more your thing, then you might be tempted by the herb-crusted Scottish salmon drizzled with warm lemon and balsamic. Can’t decide? Then opt for the surf ‘n’ turf combo of 10z fillet of butterflied Scotch beef served with lobster and West Coast mussels.
What’s close to Redstones?
Redstones is in central Uddingston, within handy reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The restaurant is a five-minute stroll from Uddingston train station and is also only a short drive from Strathclyde Country Park. Bothwell Castle Golf Club is also nearby.
