Surprised to find no note of our reservation despite booking through 5 pm and receiving a confirmation. This was further confirmed when I phoned the restaurant to say my grandson would also be joining us but eating a la carte.
Staff nevertheless sorted the problem quickly and were very friendly and efficient.
Three of the party of 5 ordered steak but the two medium ordered steaks were served well done. Nonetheless a tasty piece of meat, however, as a steak lover, I would be wary to order this again as this could be an expensive mistake especially if fillet steak was ordered. I also thought that £2 per person for a small puddle of sauce was excessive. The only other problem with the food was that one (salted caramel) of the trio of ice cream was completely melted mush which I found disgusting. This put me off eating the other two scoops which were frozen as they should be but I would question whether the ice cream was in fact Equi's as advertised? I didn't complain as this dessert was offered free of charge in compensation for the over-cooked steak.
The house wine served was very good, between us we tasted white, red and rose.
Nice friendly warm atmosphere with courteous staff.
The bill was not easy to fathom out and it was wrong. This however, was corrected immediately upon bringing it to the waitresses attention.
This was a difficult experience to truly judge. Perhaps we were just unlucky in our experience, perhaps care was not taken because we had booked an internet deal? I don't know. However, other diners seemed to be enjoying their food, so perhaps this was a one off situation?
