About Ashoka Shak Coatbridge
Popular Indian restaurant in Coatbridge
Situated in the Showcase Leisure Park on Langmuir Road, Ashoka Shak has long been popular with visitors to both the Showcase Cinema and the Hollywood Bowls centre. The restaurant opened in 2001 and, over the years, has built a solid reputation for delivering great Indian food and a warm welcome.
Classic Indian dishes
From marinated and grilled lamb chops to the tandoori mixed platter, Ashoka Shak Coatbridge has all the much loved Indian favourites which you would expect to find on the menu. There are also some surprises – haggis pakora may be unknown in North India but they are hugely popular in North Lanarkshire.
As well as familiar biryani, patia and bhoona curries, the menu offers a selection of house specialities and a connoisseur’s choice. These include dishes like the spicy desi jalfrezi, a Goanese fish curry and ra ra gosht, tender lamb and lamb mince cooked in a tarka masala base with garlic, ginger and coriander.
A relatively recent introduction at Ashoka Shak is the thali – a complete meal served on a compartmentalised tray.
