    5PM deal that was excellent

My wife and I felt we had to try out this Vista restaurant as we have been regular visitors to both the Ingliston Country Club and Coast. We booked the 2 course meal with wine. We assumed the restaurant was within the hotel but disappointed to find it around the back above the golf shop. For such a lovely looking old property it is sad to see that the Vista is much more modern and it feels out of place somehow. However we did get lovely views of Glasgow and of two of the greens. I ordered pork belly and my wife had the chicken. Desserts were sticky toffee pudding and a creme brulee, all washed down with the white wine within our package. The food was cooked well but unfortunately it was only lukewarm as was the wine and these criticisms slightly spoilt the evening. The staff were all very good though and could not be faulted and overall the price was fabulous for what we had but would not have been happy paying the full price.

    First time!

Had to say what a beautiful meal we had. I had the chicken which was so succulent and my partner had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection. The staff were extremely friendly and very accommodating. I will definitely return.

Modern Scottish restaurant in luxurious Renfrewshire hotel

Vista restaurant is part of Gleddoch golf and spa resort by Langbank. Once the home of the shipping baron, Sir William Lithgow, Gleddoch sits in over 360 acres of countryside. The aptly named Vista restaurant has gorgeous views of the River Clyde, Ben Lomond and the rolling hills of Renfrewshire. The hotel had a multi-million pound refurbishment at the end of 2016/beginning of 2017 and it looks as spectacular as its surroundings.

Scottish produce, cooked thoughtfully

From the wild venison to the salmon and hand-dived scallops, Scottish produce is at the heart of the menus at Vista restaurant. Dishes like Cullen skink and the haggis, neeps and tatties are time-served Scots classics. Other options, like the Camembert, fig and onion tart or the saffron risotto take their cue from further afield.
The kitchen is as happy producing straight forward options like the beer-battered hake and chips as they are creating more complex dishes like this trio of desserts: peanut butter mousse, caramelised bananas, coconut pannacotta and mango. The grill section is always popular and the Scotch beef is aged for a minimum of 28 days to develop its flavour.

Gleddoch attractions and transport

Gleddoch is on Old Greenock Road at Langbank in Renfrewshire, around a twenty minute drive from Glasgow city centre. The hotel has ample car parking. Langbank train station is a ten to fifteen minute walk. Gleddoch’s 18 hole, 6,350 yard championship golf course and sumptuous spa draw many visitors.
