Vista restaurant is part of Gleddoch golf and spa resort by Langbank. Once the home of the shipping baron, Sir William Lithgow, Gleddoch sits in over 360 acres of countryside. The aptly named Vista restaurant has gorgeous views of the River Clyde, Ben Lomond and the rolling hills of Renfrewshire. The hotel had a multi-million pound refurbishment at the end of 2016/beginning of 2017 and it looks as spectacular as its surroundings.
From the wild venison to the salmon and hand-dived scallops, Scottish produce is at the heart of the menus at Vista restaurant. Dishes like Cullen skink and the haggis, neeps and tatties are time-served Scots classics. Other options, like the Camembert, fig and onion tart or the saffron risotto take their cue from further afield. The kitchen is as happy producing straight forward options like the beer-battered hake and chips as they are creating more complex dishes like this trio of desserts: peanut butter mousse, caramelised bananas, coconut pannacotta and mango. The grill section is always popular and the Scotch beef is aged for a minimum of 28 days to develop its flavour.
Gleddoch is on Old Greenock Road at Langbank in Renfrewshire, around a twenty minute drive from Glasgow city centre. The hotel has ample car parking. Langbank train station is a ten to fifteen minute walk. Gleddoch’s 18 hole, 6,350 yard championship golf course and sumptuous spa draw many visitors.
