3 Wonderful starters of mussels, mushroom and spinach soup and delicious tartlet.
Although we were on table d'hote, the restaurant was flexible enough to allow a switch to a la carte for the resident carnivore. It is astonishing that a renowned seafood specialist can also turn out a perfect ribeye.
The prix fixe offerings included, as expected, a beautifully tender salmon fillet and supreme of chicken.
The seasonal side vegetables also deserve an honourable mention.
Only one of us could manage the splendid looking dessert-coffee parfait with dark chocolate sauce. It got full marks.
One slight gripe; the restaurant lost a second potential a la carte customer for scallops.
They were offered with Stornoway black pudding-and I am confident they would have been splendid. However, that combination have become something of a cliche. I'm sure Two Fat Ladies prepares it to the very highest standards -but a restaurant of this flair and originality can surely offer something new.
