I had high expectations for The Bothy and upon entering the premises, it certainly looks the part. Staff were attentive and pleasant, however, a few aspects of our meal were a let down. I had the soup to start and it was delicious and fresh, however the bread was stale and very difficult to tear apart. I noticed that someone at the table next to us gave up on his bread too. The fish cake had a very chewy and tough outer breadcrumb layer and I suspect that it was a bad re-heat. My friend had the salmon fillet as a main and it had an extremely pungent 'fishy odour' - the sign of non-fresh seafood. We ended our meal on a high by ordering the plates of mini desserts. I don't think I'll head back to The Bothy any time soon unless it's for their desserts.
