About The Square Bar and Restaurant
The Square Bar and Restaurant
Had a meal here last night and I can't wait to go back again. The service was excellent. All our needs were met without being smothered. The food was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Would definitely recommend this to everyone.
Fantastic Meal Highly Recommend and Super Coeliac Friendly
This was first visit at this establishment since it changed hands and they have done a fantastic job. The atmosphere is lovely, chilled, great for catch up. Food was delicious, nice wine, I had the chicken with whisky sauce and the gin berries for desert. The meal was cooked to perfection, could not fault, juicy with beautiful crispy skin. Also they are super at catering for coeliac, I could have almost everything on menu and if I couldn't have something they explained why and offered an alternative, this I really appreciated. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Couldn't have asked for more, I am already booked to go back and wish them well! A great wee place. Definitely recommend.
Modern Scottish restaurant in West end
Opened in the autumn of 2017, The Square is an independently owned and operated bar and restaurant on Norby Road. Open from morning to late, it is a neighbourhood place where customers can meet friends for a coffee; schedule a working lunch or unwind over dinner and cocktails. Dog-friendly until 4pm, the Square offers visiting pooches a puppaccino and treats. On the last Sunday of every month, human guests can enjoy the talents of the resident vocalist.
Local produce, innovative chefs
Using seasonal. Local ingredients, the chefs at The Square offer everything from lunchtime open sandwiches to 40-day dry-aged steaks sourced from the award-winning Rogers Butcher. The menus’ simpler dishes include the burger of the week and the Square macaroni cheese made with a four cheese sauce.
More complex starters might be the seared king scallops with celeriac purée, crispy Parma ham and scallop salt. Or the salad of salt-blacked beets with walnuts, rocket and pickled baby radish. Popular main courses include the roasted chicken breast with carrot purée, rosemary and truffle mash plus whisky sauce or the roasted butternut and Parmesan ravioli. A seafood option might be the fillets of sea bass, sautéed herb potatoes, capers, julienne vegetables, lemon and an orange beurre blanc
