    2nd visit in a week

This was our 2nd visit in a week for food and drinks. The food was excellent and my wife loved the house white wine and cocktails. The new owners have made a positive start to transitioning what used to be one of our favourite places for food in Partick but, sadly became somewhere to avoid. I’m pleased to say things are really starting to look up. We’ll definitely be back

Laidback bar in West End

Taking inspiration from the holiday hot spots of the Pacific Rim, The Pacific Canteen and Bar is on Dumbarton Road – Glasgow’s answer to Polynesia. It is a laidback spot for sipping a couple of Mai Tais or grazing on an aubergine burger. Perhaps with a slice of mango cheesecake to follow. An inventive cocktail list adds to the appeal at The Pacific Canteen and Bar.

Pan-Pacific dining: Poke bowls, flatbreads, Thai curries and more

Inviting as the drinks are, the food is just as big an attraction at The Pacific Canteen and Bar. The lunch menu offers freshly made flatbreads filled with smoked salmon, halloumi and avocado or savoury, American style waffles.
In the evening, the kitchen starts dishing up beef, aubergine and katsu burgers; three varieties of Thai green curries and lighter options such as chicken wings, salt and pepper squid plus spring rolls.

What both menus have in common is a selection of trendsetting poke bowls (pronounced POH-ke), Hawaii’s take on sushi. The Pacific Canteen and Bar tops theirs with pan-fried tofu or salmon or panko chicken.

West End transport links

Located towards the Thornwood Park end of Dumbarton Road, The Pacific Canteen and Bar is around a ten minute walk from Partick railway station. There is some on-street parking in the area and several bus routes run along Dumbarton Road into Glasgow city centre.
