About The Mallard
One good sign immediately was quite a few customers! Thats on a Monday, too! The staff made you feel relaxed and the food was well tasty! pleasant ambience! well worth another visit!
This was our first visit to The Mallard, friends of ours had been a week or so ago and recommended it.
The waiter who greeted us was extremely friendly and looked after us well throughout, he also kept us entertained with his "mini quiz".
My partner and I had three courses each and every one was well cooked and nicely presented and we enjoyed all of them.
This restaurant has a lot of competition in this part of Glasgow but has a lot going for it and I hope it does well.
Neighbourhood bar and bistro in West End
The Mallard Bar is on Great Western Road in Glasgow’s West End. Decked out with neat mix of bare bricks, chunky wooden furniture, Harris tweed and a gorgeous copper-topped bar, it’s a stylish neighbourhood hangout for a bite to eat or a nifty cocktail. On sunny days, the outside tables are much in demand from customers who want to sip on something frosty while watching the West End street life.
Dishes from the Med and Middle East
As well as a range of stone-baked, Neapolitan-style pizza, The Mallard offers an appetising selection of dishes which have their roots in the Middle East and the countries dotted around the Mediterranean. Lamb tagine, chickpea fattoush salad and Andalucian fish stew are all typical. Vegetarian options also stand out with choices such as beetroot gnocchi or falafel with roast garlic aioli and a pickled vegetable salad. There is also a range of burgers, choose between Scotch beef, harissa chicken and falafel.
A separate brunch menu provides options such as Thai eggs, Middle Eastern mezze and the Full Levantine: merguez sausage, chorizo, morcilla, basra beans, falafel, wok egg, roast mushroom, confit tomato, shashouka ratatouille and flatbread.
West End transport and attractions
The Mallard is on Great Western Road. There is restricted on-street parking and a pay car parking at Kelvinbridge subway station. Local attractions include Kelvingrove Park and Glasgow Botanic Gardens.
