About The Drugstore Social
Good value lunch
A good value soup and huge sandwich with various filling options. Food was quick but server nice but inattentive. Had to ask to be seated, for cutlery etc etc
We got the two for one offer and the flatbreads were absolutely delicious. I had the smoked trout and my sister the pulled pork. Very, very tasty. Ideal for lunch if visiting Kelvingrove Art Gallery or the Kelvin Hall. We'll definitely be back.
Café and cocktail bar with healthy twist
Located on Old Dumbarton Road, The Drug Store Social is an intriguing mix of hip café turned cocktail bar with what they call a ‘live well attitude’. Featuring upcycled/recycled decor, it looks like an old school apothecary crossed with a contemporary bar.
The health/drinks crossover is clearest on the cocktail list which has the headers Prescriptions, Revivers and Punches. Many of the cocktails are made with foraged herbs and flowers while the wines are bio-dynamic and organic.
Indulgent and healthy
Locally sourced, wild and foraged ingredients are at the heart of The Drug Store Social menus. Underpinning all the dishes is the idea that eating well and eating healthily are not mutually exclusive. For those that want to delve in-depth, the menu has a page which details the health benefits of all the dishes.
On the plate, this means brunches such as Loch Duart smoked salmon, oyster leaf, avocado and toasted soda bread or baked eggs from the local Corrie Mains farm. A variety of flatbreads come with fillings such as crab with lemon balm and chilli or squash, meadowsweet, smoked Arran brie and red onion petals.
More substantial options can be found under the main courses section. Popular choices include the salmon cured with Isle of Harris Gin and the venison with lemon and thyme gremolata.
