About The Botany
Lovely meal, both had three courses and enjoyed everything we had. Nice choice on a La carte menu, food fresh and at correct temperature. Waitress pleasant and attentive.
One of the best choice of gins I’ve seen!
Next time will try a cocktail
All very reasonable priced, 5pm deal a bonus, would have paid full price and will be back.
Always a pleasant pleasant experience, even the dogs got a treat 😀
The fish cakes delicious, handmade chips fluffy, a relaxed venue with pleasant staff. A great place to celebrate with family and friends
Stylish casual dining in the West End
Close to the Forth & Clyde Canal, The Botany Bar & Restaurant has been relaunched from its previous incarnation, The Strathmore. The former 19th century working man’s pub now includes a graceful glasshouse dining conservatory with an outside terrace. Inside the bar area, the original brickwork is still intact with feature tiling and filament bulbs adding a retro-chic charm. The beautiful garden and surrounding parkland is so peaceful that you will soon forget that you are beside bustling Maryhill Road. The restaurant’s name is inspired by the nearby Botanical Gardens, which helped to establish the kitchen team’s vision of bringing a fresh, ingredient-driven menu to the Maryhill food scene.
A creative take on Scottish and European Favourites
Menus at The Botany can best be described as classic Scottish and international cuisine with a twist or two implemented by their Chefs.
Dishes change seasonally, but starters might include Hot & Sour Tofu or Prawn soup, Spinach and Nut Roast or the famous smooth Parfait of Chicken livers with balsamic onions. The kitchen team make all Parfaits and Pate from scratch. Warm Stornoway Black Pudding and roasted Beetroot is also a firm first course favourite.
Main courses can include Seabass with ginger and spring onions served ‘en papillote’, Roast Rump of Lamb, Confit Duck as well as Smoked Haddock and Salmon Risotto. Other dishes include Fish and Chips in the restaurant’s own beer batter and Pork & Apple Sausages with mash. Vegetarians will have quite a few choices including Sweet Potato and green lentil Curry or Goats Cheese and Butternut squash Gnocchi.
The Desserts include such old favourites as Sticky Toffee Pudding with Matcha ice cream, Vanilla Crème Brulee with shortbread or why not have an Affogato with a shot of your preferred liquour.
Cheese and biscuits are also on offer and a gluten free warm chocolate cake is a favourite as well.
