Italian restaurant in Glasgow’s West End

Sorrento is an Italian restaurant, bar and coffee roastery in Glasgow’s thriving West End. It is at the Great Western Road end of Byres Road, a two minute walk from Glasgow Botanic Gardens. With a decor that looks like the inside of a rural villa – complete with orange tree – this first floor restaurant is a cosy spot for a working lunch, romantic dinner or family get together. If the weather is good, there is a tiny space outside the restaurant for an al fresco bite and people-watching.

Scottish ingredients, Neapolitan recipes

The chefs at Sorrento like to combine the finest, seasonal, Scottish ingredients with time tested Neapolitan recipes. As well as a keenly priced lunch menu, there is a full a la carte. From charcuterie antipasto to veal saltimbocca, all the classics are there. Fifteen pasta and three risotto offer plenty of choice along with seafood, chicken, veal and beef dishes like the fillet steak in a Barolo reduction. Of course, it could not be a Neapolitan restaurant without pizza and Sorrento has eleven to choose between. What will it be? The classic Margherita or the haggis-topped Braveheart?

Byres Road attractions and transport links

Sorrento is on Byres Road, opposite the Hilton. There is limited on-street parking and the nearest underground is at Hillhead. The Botanic Garden and Grosvenor cinema are among the local attractions.
