Rating Highly recommended for lunch on a Sunday (Rating 4.6/5)
We visited Roastit Bubbly Jocks on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch on the set menu. The tables are wooden topped and the cutlery is in a container. The walls are covered in an eclectic display of paintings, prints and photos. We received a very friendly welcome from the informative and chatty staff.
The market menu has a definite Scottish twist.
For starters we had the crispy whitebait with a homemade tartar sauce with lots of capers and the Serrano ham, feta cheese & roasted red pepper salad which was fresh and tasty. For mains we really enjoyed the Moroccan spiced marinated chicken with Jasmine rice. The Moroccan sauce was one of the best I have ever tasted spicy, rich and full of flavour, the chicken was perfectly cooked. The Scottish haddock fish supper with hand cut chips & peas had a fillet of very fresh fish coated in a crispy beer batter.
We enjoyed the complimentary glass of house wine with our meal.
We finished with excellent coffees.
There is also a reasonable wine list with wines by the glass.
Highly recommended for lunch on a Sunday.
