    Fabulous food and service

    Don't be put off by menu which can read fussy and not sure what you will be eating. Staff happy to explain and food is amazing with lots of attention to detail and flavours. If we lived local it would be a weekly visit but we have to settle for monthly. Highly recommend.

    Amazing

    Amazing! Everything was lovely. The food, staff and the price. Booked through 5pm the lunch menu 3 courses that came with a glass of wine. We each had an extra drink and it was not even £50. Staff are so lovely. Not a 'have a nice day' nice. Genuinely lovely. I took my mum for a treat and we will be back. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Modern Scottish cooking

Number 16 brings fresh ideas to modern Scottish cooking with its menus changing regularly and a commitment to local produce. The dishes often have an international flavour such as the pan fried sea bream, fennel, cucumber and olive salad with pesto and gremolata or the braised leg of Gressingham duck with mashed potato, bean cassoulet, orange and sherry broth.

The desert menu is worthy of note with delicious examples like the Lavender panna cotta with poached plums and rhubarb and the dark chocolate and raspberry tart with hazelnut praline and vanilla ice cream.

West End transport links

Number 16 is on the Partick end of Byres Road and is very convenient for those visiting Glasgow University or Kelvingrove Museum. It is a few minutes walk from both Kelvinhall and Hillhead subway stations. There is limited on street parking nearby.

It takes a brave person to change career and a particularly brave person to swap high powered business suits for chefs whites. Helen Vass, pastry chef at Glasgow’s Number 16, did just that. In 2013 she quit her job at a Real Estate Asset Management company in Barcelona to focus full time on the passion that had been taking up her after work hours – baking.
