Authentic Byres Road Indian with modern twist
Masala Twist is an Indian restaurant and curry house set on the bustling Byres Road in the heart of Glasgow’s West End. It offers traditional Indian fare with a modern twist, making the most of the freshest local produce. The restaurant is fresh and modern with warm and friendly service.
Mince and tatties curry?
Masala Twist’s menu is influenced by locations across India and tries to offer alternatives to the standard Anglo Indian curries. You could go for the Bombay bakra originating from Maharashtra – lamb simmered until tender in an aromatic blend of spinach and mustard leaves. If you’re a fan of South Indian curries, the king prawn chettinad sounds delicious – king prawns sauteed in a piquant pepper sauce with chopped green chillies.
It also has a number of specialty curries that you definitely wouldn’t get in your standard Indian restaurant. The Junglee Khargosh from Rajasthan is tender rabbit cooked with a host of exotic chef’s special spices or you can go for a venison alternative.
Mention must also be given to the mince and tatties curry – an Indian twist on a Scottish classic.
If you prefer to stick to the classics, your chicken tikka masala and friends are all on the menu too. The vegetarian menu is inspired by the lush market gardens of India and has an extensive selection.
Byres Road Indian
Masala Twist is located in the heart of Byres Road in the west end of Glasgow, a vibrant and cosmopolitan area of the city. It is walking distance from Glasgow University and other noted landmarks such as the Botanic Gardens and Kelvingrove Art Gallery.
It is literally yards from Hillhead Subway Station and also set on many major bus routes across Glasgow, with a number of taxi ranks also close by.
