Green Chilli Cafe on Argyle Street in Glasgow’s West End and close to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Serving Indian cuisine, the restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere and a menu with curries that can be served as main courses or in tapas-style portions.
All food at Green Chilli Cafe is made to order, and the selection of wines available have been specially chosen to complement the Indian dishes available. Some ‘must try’ menu items include the chicken sharabi (hot and sour with tropical coconut, a dash of Chianti) along with the aloo and paneer bonda (Indian cottage cheese and mashed potato balls in pakora batter and served with spicy tomato chutney).
Many diners have praised the restaurant’s haggis fritters, with a few brave souls trying the tasty green chilli pakora – it is HOT and has brought tears to the eyes of a few overconfident curry fans. Alternatively, guests can stick to the more traditional options such as the creamy chicken korma (a Glasgow favourite); the desi lamb (traditional bhoona style lamb with added green chilli for a ‘kick’); or the daal tadka (yellow lentils tempered with cumin seeds, tomato & onions).
Green Chilli Cafe is on Argyle Street a short distance from Kelvingrove Park, with bus stops nearby. The restaurant is child-friendly and a 10 minute stroll from both Kelvinhall Subway station and the popular Byres Road.
