We visited at 6pm on a Saturday night and booked to be sure we'd get a table. We had been here before when it used to West on the Corner and its a nice space. It wasn't that busy when we arrived but within half an hour or so tables were filling fast and the bar area had a nice buzz about it. I have to confess to not being a massive steak person, its usually the last thing I wold order from a menu but we had heard good things and wanted to try it out. We were both a little disappointed that the menu pretty much consisted of Flatiron steak with a choice of sides and you may say " its a steak house, what you expect" but we thought there would be a choice of meats. There was sirloin on the specials menu however. I guess FBF have decided to keep it simple and do it well, and well it was, very very good. We both had a lovely steak cooked medium-rare as recommended by our server, a lot pinker than I would typically have a steak but I was won over. It was delicious. We had sides of double dip chips with parmesan and hollandaise sauce and macaroni and haggis bonbons(like a smaller scotch egg) and both were very tasty. We then had a crackin pistachio cheesecake and an Eaton mess. All in all an excellent meal and couldn't fault the food. Only negative point is regarding desert. The eaton mess had no meringue and £6 each for desert is more than I like to pay given the value of the steak. When we left almost all tables were taken in restaurant and bar so do book ahead on the weekend. Special mention for the good service. Quick, efficient and informative, a lot of places these days seem to struggle even to get basics right so top marks here. I understand FBF is a pop up and might not stay open permanently but I hope it does as it has made me a steak convert and we will definitely go back soon.
