Cafe Andaluz West End Review

  • Rating Late lunch (Rating 4.6/5)
Great food as always & a good deal although everything I likes seemed to have a supplement. We ordered 6 tapas + bread although the deal was for 5 + dessert so paid for one & bread + supplement for one tapas. I chose the goat's cheese with orange & chilli marmalade. It was beautiful & a very thick slice of cheese with plenty of sauce. I also had the beef in a creamy sauce with mushrooms. Again lovely, but a supplement was attached. I wanted to go for Gambas pil pil but again a supplement so chose the black pudding with apple chutney which was amazing as always & again a good portion size in this choice. My husband chose the chicken fillets in batter with honey & mustard dressing which is always popular. He said they were good. He also chose Morrocan lamb & mashed potato croquette tossed in breadcrumbs & deep fried. This was his favourite. Served with a yoghurt dip. His third choice was lightly dusted cod chunks deep fried & served with a garlic mayo [I think]. We started with bread & oils which was huge so couldn't finish that. You always get a good feed at Café Andaluz so not sure you need bread if having 3 tapas each & a dessert. The dessert was in the deal so you must - lol- otherwise I doubt we would have had one. Choice of any dessert which was nice as the tapas menu on the deal was restricted [although quite a few choices] I chose milk choc cheesecake with a white choc Florentine & my hubbie had mixed berry compote. Cheesecake was nice but not very suite which went well with the sweet white choc Florentine. You could taste the Cadbury's chocolate flavour in the background but not sweet like chocolate. The pavlova was an individual portion with masses of berry compote over the top & a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The meringue was chewy I was told but too much so. Nice glass of cava to wash it all down. Staff friendly & lovely Spanish looking place. Not our first visit & wont be our last.
