We visited Friday lunchtime. We had two courses from the a la carte menu: scallops with black pudding puree - the scallops were just cooked so lovely and soft, and the puree was a spicy contrast along with the crispy bacon bits. The other starter of venison and beetroot salad was also well prepared - three medallions of smoked venison loin complemented by thinly sliced baby beetroot and not overly sweet candied walnut pieces. The mains of roast loin of lamb was also excellent. We thought all the flavours worked well, the dishes looked beautiful and everything tasted delicious. We would recommend every thing we had. If there were any negatives, it would be the portions were a little on the small side. The restaurant is nicely set out, the waitress was attentive and friendly and the 5pm deal was excellent value.
