My friend and I had a very disappointing experience at the Brasserie on Friday evening. We ordered from the Pre-theatre menu which, when booked through 5pm includes a glass of wine. I ordered Beef Bourguignon which is normally succulent and tender. What I got can only be described as a lump of tough browned meat which when I was able to cut through it was red raw!
Trying to catch the waiters attention was farcical and I had to eventually take my plate to him. He explained that it was a shin of beef and that was how their version of Beef Bourguignon was served. If I'd ordered a steak then I'd expect to be asked how well I'd like it cooked.
The replacement meal 'catch of the day' was edible as was dessert. However, it took ages to be served our dessert. Coffee was requested with dessert but wasn't served.
Eventually, when we got the bill it was wrong and not being able to attract the attention of the waiter I
had to go to the bar to query it.
I've eaten here before but never experienced food or service like it. The restaurant wasn't busy with only a few customers so there was no excuse for bad service and the chef requires training on how to make Beef Bourguignon.
