Indian restaurant near Kelvingrove
A West End landmark since 1973, the Ashoka on Argyle Street has an extensive menu of authentic Indian dishes. Located a stone’s throw from Kelvingrove Art Gallery, it has a cosy atmosphere and attentive staff.
Punjabi dishes & connoisseur choices
Mostly Punjabi in style, if you feel like sharing there are meat and fish platters to share such as the tandoori mixed platter with tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, seekh kebab, lamb tikka and king prawns.
The old favourites are featured in the house specials from your choice of chasni and south Indian garlic chilli to a rich bhoona.
If you’re looking for a more unusual choice, there are ‘connoisseurs’ choices’ from the delicious sikandri lamb; lamb shanks marinated overnight with ginger, garlic, green chillies and Indian spices, served with garlic potatoes to the tandoori murgh makanwala; whole pieces of chicken tikka simmered in tomato, honey with lashings of cream and spices.
As with most Indian restaurants, there are numerous vegetarian options available.
